[bioontology-support] inconsistent issues between BioPortal and MeSH

Eugene,

Here is what is happening: in the MSH browser on the NLM page, a term
gets different children depending on how you got to the term. See for
example
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/cgi/mesh/2010/MB_cgi?mode=&term=Neoplasms,+Experimental&field=entry

This is the page for your term: Neoplasm, Experimental.

It shows two trees: one with this term under Diseases and another one
under Investigative Techniques. There, "Neoplasm, Experimental" has
different children in these two different tress:

BioPortal doesn't have a way of distinguishing between these two
cases, unfortunately. In fact, it is not even entirely clear what the
semantics is. In any case, in BioPortal, we have no choice but to show
the union of these two sets under Neoplasms, Experimental. Note that
it does appear in two subtrees in BioPortal as well.

It is exactly the same issue with the problem that you reported
yesterday. See
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/cgi/mesh/2010/MB_cgi?mode=&index=11125#TreeF02.830

I hope this clarifies the issue.

Natasha
