[bioontology-support] BioPortal Virtual Appliance

The model has not changed. This should work. Unfortunately our error
messages tend not to be very helpful. Any of your users should be able to
create an ontology. What they need to know is that the acronym needs to be
both unique and all upper case with no spaces and no funny punctuation.
Also the ontology name must be unique.

Let me know if you are still having problems. We are working to improve
our error messages so that they are more helpful.

Subject: [bioontology-support] BioPortal Virtual Appliance

Good Afternoon:

We have deployed a BioPortal Virtual Appliance on a system at the
University of South Carolina for the Earth Science Information Partners

We are currently customizing it and populating it with ontologies. I was
unable to upload an ontology in the portal after creating my own user
account and got the following: "error on form".

Your support page for VAs mentions "Add an ontology using the BioPortal
Admin User"

Does this mean that one will now need the admin password to upload an
ontology? In our previous VA, anyone with a self-created user account
could upload an ontology. Is this no longer the case? This model was
very appropriate for the ESIP Federation, an open networked community that
brings together science, data and information technology practitioners, on
a volunteer basis.

Please let me know how to fix the error.

Thank you
