[bioontology-support] Fwd: Formal request from us to share your NCBO Virtual Appliance

We produce the CSV and RDF files. We do not read them in. There is no standard way to encode an ontology in CSV so we don’t try to load these. There may be some support in Protégé for creating an ontology (an OWL file) from a CSV.

Hello Bioontology Support,

I got the VM, it worked like a charm, thanks for your support.

Am not sure if am writing to the correct person or should I mail to support at bioontology.org<mailto:support at bioontology.org>. After gothroughing the web link,
http://www.bioontology.org/wiki/index.php/Importing_UMLS_To_Virtual_Appliance we see '.ttl' files avaialble on http://bioportal.bioontology.org/ is the only option to generate ontology files required for VM appliance. How ever we see CSV and RDF are also available for download from http://bioportal.bioontology.org/, but looks like we don't have an option to import these formats into the VM appliance.

I strongly believe there must be an option to import the CSV, could you please help us?

-Kamal.

For our record keeping can you please give us the following information:
- your BioPortal user name - if you need one go to http://bioportal.bioontology.org/accounts/new
Kamalanathan_v

- a one to two sentence description of your project
Its a Business Intelligence solution, aimed to safeguard the assets (in terms of drugs owned, its proprietary manufacturing techniques etc...) possessed by pharma companies. It's a new initiative so please do excess me for not sharing much of the details as of now!

- why you want to use the VM rather than the public instance? For example, do you want host non-biomedical or proprietary ontologies or annotate private data? Do you have performance concerns?
Because the pharma companies we deal with, operate in a concealed secured environment, access to outside network is strictly prohibited. Also as you said performance for sure is a concern for us.

Hello Bioontology Support,

Am Kamal, I work as a Product Architect at Biginfolabs India Pvt Ltd. Currently we are developing a Business intelligence solution for one of our Pharmaceutical client and we found the ontologies dictionary provided by your community to be very useful. Thanks to your entire community for its wonderful contribution.

While browsing through your wiki pages, we also found that, the entire solution is packaged as an Virtual Appliance and it shared to organizations upon mailing to support at bioontology.org<mailto:support at bioontology.org>.

It would be great if you can consider this mail as formal request from us to share your Virtual Appliance and provided us the access URL or a web link to download it.

Also from the articles published over the web, we understood its for free and its commercial usage is not bound by any constraint or conditions.
Incase if you any such constraint or condition, please do share with us for further evaluation.

-Thanks,
-Kamalanathan Venkatesan.
