Confirmed. This is a very strange bug. We will look into this tomorrow. I don’t think that it will be difficult to fix.

Subject: [bioontology-support] [BioPortal] Feedback from Roberto Mosca

Feedback:

Dear Support,

while using the bioportal REST API I noticed an appartent inconsistency between the results reported by two different APIs.

The search API:

http://data.bioontology.org/search?q=autosomal+dominant+form&also_search_obsolete=True&ontologies=HP

returns several terms. Among them the term "http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/HP_0000006" with only one synonym:

synonym": [
"Autosomal dominant"
]

Instead, if I look at the entry alone

"http://data.bioontology.org/ontologies/HP/classes/http%3A%2F%2Fpurl.obolibrary.org%2Fobo%2FHP_0000006

I can find three different synonyms:

synonym": [
"AUTOSOMAL DOMINANT TYPE",
"Autosomal dominant",
"AUTOSOMAL DOMINANT FORM"
]

Is this correct? I could not find any reference about it in the documentation and was wondering if this might be considered as a bug of the API.

I would definitely need the search API to return all synonyms.

Let me know.

Best,
Roberto Mosca
