[bioontology-support] University of Virginia - REDCap Data Management System Issue

Hello Fauzio,

I understand you found your password, sounds good. Resetting the password would not have affected any of the BioPortal content or setups you have made.

Regarding changing your email address, you can request an additional account at any time. The existing service would not stop working. Ideally, you would change your service to use the API key from your new service account, instead of the previous API key from the personal account. Changing that in your code should cause no issues, as long as your new account is in place (you can test its API key with a simple REST call from the browser)..

We would appreciate that as well, so we can appropriately understand what accounts are for people and what accounts are for tools. This is a great 'best practice' for using BioPortal, thanks!

Hello Jennifer,

I emailed with you over a year ago. We resolved our issues. However, I was just taking some notes for my team and cannot remember my BioPortal password. Before I reset it I have a few questions:
1. Will resetting impact the current setup in our application that access the Ontologies from BioPortal?
2. Can I request a different email address to be used. Currently my personal address is used. We now have a dedicated email address for our service, and I would like to replace the current one with it:
a. Current personal: fw3u at<mailto:fw3u at>
b. New: RedCap at<mailto:RedCap at>
Will this impact our current setup, meaning will the ontology service stop working?

Account Information:

Email: fw3u at<mailto:fw3u at>

(I am not sure what Location is, but I am including in case you need it).

Thank you,

Hello Fauzia,

You’ve reached the support list for the Bioportal REST API [1] and BioPortal application [2]. We have no knowledge of the REDCap software.

I assume your application is accessing ontology data via our REST API? To test your API key, simply open a browser window and enter any of the sample URLs we provide in our REST API documentation, e.g.:<>?apikey=your_api_key_goes_here

If there’s an issue with your API key, the browser will display an error. If the call was successful, you’ll see JSON results displayed in the browser.

Kind regards,

Good Afternoon,

I am emailing because I am having some issues with setting up Ontologies on a new server for our REDCap system. We are currently using Ontologies as expected in our existing system. During testing of our new server, I noticed it doesn’t work. I have generated a new token but still not luck. Please advise, our go-live is next week!
