[farmshare-discuss] Upgrading to R 3.0.x

The version of R currently installed is the latest available from the standard repo for Ubuntu 13.04; R packages will be updated to version 3.0.1 when FarmShare systems are upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10. In the meantime, you should be able to build a local copy of the most recent stable version in ~ (or in your /farmshare/user_data directory):

> $ mkdir -p ~/.local/src
> $ cd ~/.local/src

> $ make install

In this example the installed binary is ~/.local/bin/R.
