Dear GO Friends,
We have a position available for a scientific curator to work on the GO
project at the European Bioinformatics Institute in Hinxton, UK. Here is
the job description:
The Gene Ontology project is a collaborative effort to provide
controlled vocabularies that can be used for the description of the
molecular function, biological process and cellular component of gene
products in a wide variety of organisms. We are seeking a curator to
work with the Swiss-Prot team on annotation of gene products using GO
vocabulary terms. The curator will also work with the GO Editor at EBI
to revise the vocabularies as needed, and to define existing GO terms.
The successful applicant will probably have a PhD degree in biology and
will have studied one of the major model experimental organisms.
Experience with computing is not required.
Further information can be obtained from Michael Ashburner
(ashburner at ebi.ac.uk) or Midori Harris (midori at ebi.ac.uk). Applications
will be handled by the EMBL personnel section; please see the posting at
http://www.embl-heidelberg.de/ExternalInfo/jobs/0191.html
Best regards,
Midori
