The ESF programme in Functional Genomics announces the workshop
"Ontology for Biology"

Registrations are now open!

The workshop is being organised by
Luca Bernardi (European Media Laboratory), Paul van der Vet (University
of Twente),
Uwe Reyle (University of Stuttgart), Jasmin Saric (European Media
Isabel Rojas (European Media Laboratory) and Renate Kania (European
Media Laboratory).

The workshop is being held in Heidelberg, Germany from 7-8th November

More information can be found at:

The workshop sets out to clarify to the following questions:
Why do we need ontologies?
How are they created?
How do we check them?
How do we use them?

The aim is to bring together scientists from different fields and to
foster a discussion of biological ontologies from
different viewpoints. There will be time for presentations and
discussions will be fostered. Participants are encouraged
to present posters describing systems for implementing and applying

Also note, an update to the resources pages of the functional genomics
web site now includes a comprehensive review on protein
arrays by the programme chairman, Mike Taussig. It consists of a
thorough review of the field with relevant literature, a list
of associated industrial companies, and the main international meetings
where protein arrays are featured.
