SGD releases yeast-specific GO-slim

Dear GO friends,

The Saccharomyces Genome Database (SGD; http://www.yeastgenome.org/)
has released a yeast-specific GO-Slim. Like other GO-slims, it
contains a set of high level GO terms that best represent major
branches of the Biological Process, Molecular Function, and Cellular
Component ontologies. It is unique because it also contains GO terms
that represent significant processes or components in yeast such as
'conjugation', 'sporulation', and 'bud'.

This GO-slim, called 'goslim_yeast.2003', is available for download
from the Gene Ontology Consortium's ftp site:

ftp://ftp.geneontology.org/pub/go/GO_slims/

This GO-Slim will be incorporated into current SGD tools and resources
such as the GO Term Mapper
(http://db.yeastgenome.org/cgi-bin/SGD/GO/goTermMapper) and the
Advanced Feature Search
(http://db.yeastgenome.org/cgi-bin/SGD/search/featureSearch).

If you have any questions or comments about the yeast-specific GO-Slim
or about anything else at SGD, please do not hesitate to email us at
yeast-curator at genome.stanford.edu.

Regards,
Eurie
