** April 28 2004: GOA releases.**
====================================

GOA (GO Annotation at EBI) is a project run by the European
Bioinformatics Institute that aims to provide assignments of gene
products to the Gene Ontology (GO) resource. The project announces
the 17th release of all GO annotations that exist in UniProt
(GOA-UniProt) as well as an 19th release of annotation for the
Swiss-Prot/TrEMBL/Ensembl/RefSeq non-redundant human proteome set
(GOA-Human) and 5th release of GOA mouse and rat and a 8th release of
our PDB data set.

GOA human, mouse and rat now contain annotations to RefSeq (NP/XP)
entries. Annotations have been added by InterPro2go mappings. This
reflects the data sets provided by the International Protein Index
(IPI). For further details see the README files which accompany each
Gene Association file. To read more about the IPI sets go here:

http://www.ebi.ac.uk/IPI/IPIhelp.html

Please note that the species specific xrefs.goa files are now named
according to species, ie: human.xrefs, mouse.xrefs and rat.xrefs.

The data can be obtained via:

          EBI FTP: ftp://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/databases/GO/goa/

EBI SRS: http://srs.ebi.ac.uk. Search GOA data library *

          GO FTP: ftp://ftp.geneontology.org/pub/go/gene-associations/
