** August 11 2004: GOA releases.**
GOA (GO Annotation at EBI) is a project run by the European
Bioinformatics Institute that aims to provide assignments of gene
products to the Gene Ontology (GO) resource. The project announces
the 20th release of all GO annotations that exist in UniProt
(GOA-UniProt) as well as an 22nd release of annotation for the
Swiss-Prot/TrEMBL/Ensembl/RefSeq non-redundant human proteome set
(GOA-Human) and 8th release of GOA mouse and rat and a 11th release of
our PDB data set.
* NEW: This release now includes external manual annotation from the Rat
Genome Database group (attributed using 'RGD') *
GOA human, mouse and rat now contain annotations to RefSeq (NP/XP)
entries. Annotations have been added by InterPro2go mappings. This
reflects the data sets provided by the International Protein Index
(IPI). For further details see the README files which accompany each
Gene Association file. To read more about the IPI sets go here:
Please note that the species specific xrefs.goa files are now named
according to species, ie: human.xrefs, mouse.xrefs and rat.xrefs.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Ruth Lovering (HGNC)
for her contribution to GO annotation at the EBI.
