[go-friends] [go] Alert: Proposal to obsolete GO:0004158, : term that impacts existing annotation

The term GO:0004158, dihydroorotate oxidase I,( Catalysis of the reaction: (S)-dihydroorotate + O(2) = H(2)O(2) +orotate.), which was mapped to EC 1.3.3.1 , is scheduled to be made obsolete.
EC has determined that this reaction in fact does not exist. They have withdrawn EC 1.3.3.1.

There are currently 65 total annotations directly to this term.
IDA: 1
1, RGD to Dhodh
ISS: 21:
1MGI,  1 UniProtKB, one JCVI_CMR, and the remaining TIGR_CMR.
IEA: 41;
21 UniProtKB, 2 Flybase, 1 MGI, 10 CGD, 1 AspGD, 2 Zfin, 1 RGD, 1 SGD, 1 Pombe, 1 dictybase

All mappings to EC2GO, IP2GO, and SP_KW2GO should be removed. The term has a mapping in IP2GO (hence the IEAs); It is used in the catalytic slim subset (and thus will be removed).

Note: If fumarate is not shown to be nvolved, you may want to consider GO:0004152, dihydroorotate dehydrogenase activity (parent term); if the reaction involves fumarate, then use GO:0052888 dihydroorotate oxidase (fumarate) activity

See SF 10770 for details. http://sourceforge.net/p/geneontology/ontology-requests/10770/

The deadline for comments is 5/20/14 If we hear nothing, the obsoletion goes ahead --
