Fancy idea. I have only looked at it *very* superfically so far -
basically only at your description - but you might want to look
at/exchange ideas/meet/join forces with:

- Buddycloud

- Protonet

(I saw convincing talks by both teams at Easterhegg this year. The
descriptions there might give you a good idea about both projects)

P.S. Is there a mailing list or a good wiki for "hacks" like that? If
not, why not? I've posted this already, but I'm trying to collect such
things at and would love to see participants
from here to add pages/info there. (no reg required)
