[liberationtech] Debate brewing on @Liberationtech Twitter

You can't POST data to other's people's servers, and expect them to protect
you. Your just another row in the database. Especially a free service.
The issue is how to get hundreds of millions of people to listen to you and
do it without exposing yourself?

I think social media helps you get resources from people that would never
know, a friend who is following a friend who is following a friend
retweets something from someone their following. Thats powerful.
On the other hand, you can setup very secure private networks (siprnet),
and give special alien encrypted usernames and passwords...but then only
those particular people will know.
IP-Based social networks have become the glue between disjoint networks.

As a young African American, I wish Twitter was around during the 60's,
50's, 40's, etc. I could guess some trending topics.
No revolution comes without risks and costs...none. Revolution has never not
been dangerous.
I think protecting your physical location (where you log in from, where you
post from, etc) is essential, but Twitter is a revolutionary service.
