[liberationtech] Apple to end default inclusion of OpenSSL in OS X?

It appears Apple is ending the default inclusion of OpenSSL in OS X. I
am not familiar with how these decisions are made, so I may be
misreading the post (first link below) and the Hacker News commentary
(second link). The post says "The crux of the problem is OpenSSL doesn’t
offer API compatibility between versions." But the post appears to say
Apple decision-makers are still open to including OpenSSL if certain
issues are resolved.

Although there might be alternatives to OpenSSL, I think this is bad
news for crypto outreach to media people, who strongly tend to use OS X.

Are there Apple people who can be contacted about this?
