Fake Election News Stories Outperformed Real News On Facebook
A BuzzFeed News analysis found that top fake election news stories
generated more total engagement on Facebook than top election stories from
19 major news outlets combined.
National Public Radio story a few days ago the guy in Los Angeles who built
many of these fake news sites
Filippo Menczer, Professor of Computer Science and Informatics and Director
of the Center for Complex Networks and Systems Research at Indiana
University, Bloomington, authored the article Why Fake News Is So
Incredibly Effective, published in Time and The Conversation.
a new study from Stanford researchers evaluated students’ ability to assess
information sources, and described the results as “dismaying,” “bleak” and
a “threat to democracy,” as reported by NPR News.
