[multilingual-dh] Facilitators for DH 2020 forum?

Dear Geoff,

as already noted, I am very happy with the Forum proposal and think that you can submit it now. However, are we too many facilitators now (5)? If yes then I offer to step down and act as a Workshop organizer (which I would love to do anyway and listed my name already).

Best regards

Hi all,

Thanks for letting us know about the extension, Quinn! It seems like we're pretty happy with the current draft of the forum proposal. Would people like me to submit this now or would we like to wait another week for any more feedback? I personally would vote for submitting now, but am happy to do whatever the group feels best. Thoughts? I won't submit until hearing back from more people.

And I didn’t mean to send that already, apologies!

Here’s the URL of the doc:

W<>e’ve got both the forum (which is due next Tuesday now), and the workshop, which we’ll need to submit via GO::DH on November 1st. The workshop description is lower on the same Google Doc.

I think we’re set on facilitators for the forum, but we need some organizers for the workshop! Because the workshop isn’t submitted through ConfTool, you can be an organizer for it without it taking up one of your two official DH submission “slots”. So even if you’re submitting other things, you’re welcome to add yourself to the workshop.

Hi all,

We have a reprieve! The deadline has been extended until next Tuesday, 10/22.

Hi Quinn,

This is great! I'd love to participate if needed, although I can't seem to find the document. Maybe I joined the mailing list too late or something?

Dear all,

We’ve got a revised draft ready for the forum submission, and Geoff Bacon has offered to submit it. Is there anyone else besides Svenja Gülden who’d like to be listed as a co-facilitator on the submission? I think we can have up to four.

I’ll leave the doc open until Sunday, October 13th for additional facilitators. All you need to do is leave your name, email address, institution, and ORCID. After that, I’ll turn it over to Geoff for actual submission to ADHO.

In the meantime, I’ve been talking with some folks about how we can expand our website in a rational and sustainable way (using Jekyll and GitHub pages). I’ve got a variety of OCR resources collected, but I’m short on time to rework the site for it until the end of the month. But more should be coming shortly thereafter! And if you have suggestions for OCR tools or text corpora, let me know and we can start a Google Doc to collect them until the website is restructured a bit.
