Hi,
I solved the problem by myself by creating a simple “.java.policy” and putting it into the home folder of the user that starts the protégé server process.
Now the question is, why on earth I need a dedicated Java policy file, at all…
cheers

Betreff: [protege-discussion] AccessControlExecption on starting run_protege_server.sh
Hi,
I installed a Protege 3.4.7 32bit (witout bundled VM) on my Ubuntu 32bit 10.04 server.
On starting the preconfigured ‘run_protege_server_sh’ I get AcceccControlExceptions, presumably thrown by the RMI…
Example:
“java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission /opt /protege_3.4.7/- read)”
The same happens when running the script with “sudo”.
I now tested it on various Ubuntu systems (32bit and 64), even using multiple JVMs…
It’s always the same result..
I managed to run the server on a 64bit Ubuntu with a Protege bundled with VM, but under Ubuntu 32 the installer won’t work --> see my previous mail.
Where’s the problem with my java/RMI/Protégé??
Thanks!

Betreff: Installation of Protege 3.4.7+VM 32bit failed
Hi,
i am running an Ubuntu 10.04 server with console only.
I tried to install the Protege 3.4.7. 32bit version with a bundled Java Virtual Machine from [1], but following errors occur:
-------
Preparing to install...
Extracting the JRE from the installer archive...
Unpacking the JRE...
Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive...
Configuring the installer for this system's environment...
Launching installer...
/tmp/install.dir.4837/Linux/resource/jre/bin/java: 2: Syntax error: end of file unexpected (expecting ")")
------
Whats wrong?
Some notes on that:
- This error did not occur with the “normal” Protégé 3.4.7 installer 32bit without the bundled VM
- This error did not occur with the Protégé 3.4.7 installer 64bit including the bundled VM on an Ubuntu 64bit 11.04
