Can you clarify this? Do you mean, use:

  <owl:DatatypeProperty rdf:ID="knownAs">
    <rdfs:range rdf:resource=""/>
    <rdfs:domain rdf:resource="#Manufacturer"/>

  <owl:Class rdf:ID="Manufacturer">

  <Manufacturer rdf:ID="Company1">
    <knownAs rdf:datatype="">AA</knownAs>
    <knownAs rdf:datatype="">BB</knownAs>

Rather than:

  <owl:Class rdf:ID="Manufacturer">

  <Manufacturer rdf:ID="AA" />

  <Manufacturer rdf:ID="BB">
    <owl:sameAs rdf:resource="#AA"/>

Usually the best way to deal with synonyms is not to use separate
individuals or classes, but rather to use a multiple-value datatype
property (or annotation) that associates the individual with the text
string of the synonyms.

This also allows you to support multiple languages easily as well, by
using the language tag for string-valued datatype or annotation
