[protege-owl] Database Backend Performance

Hi,
We've created an OWL Project with a DataBase Backend with Protege 3.4 build
516.
Our DB is SQLSERVER 2005 with MICROSOFT JDBC Driver.
After loading 60,000 Instances (one type of class with 10 properties), the
work on the project is absolutely impossible.
The initial load for those instances (after the load of the project) loads
all of them into memory which takes about 5 sec per instance.....
Is the DB backend still the best solution recommended for big ontologies?
If so, is there any solution for this performance issue?
Thanks,
Ana.
