[protege-owl] SWRL: property hierarchy reasoning not working, possible bug

Dear all,

SWRL does not seem to capture parent property relationships automatic
inferred by the ontology.

For example:

hasPropertyParent has two sup-properties hasProperty1 and hasProperty2.

Within the ontology, when the range of the hasProperty1 is set to an
individual, the ontology automatically infers that the range of
hasPropertyParent is also set to that same individual.

When writing a SWRL Query/Rule if the following is written:

hasProperty1(?domainIndividual,?rangeIndividual)

the SWRL query will return the expected results.

However, SWRL does not return any result from the following:

hasPropertyParent(?domainIndividual,?rangeIndividual)

QUESTION:

Is this a bug or a particular feature to maintain OWA?

regards,
Paddy.
