The SWRL parser did not correctly handle empty strings. I have fixed this bug.
The fix will be in the next release - or you can check out the latest code from the Subversion repository and build it:

Is there a workaround to remove whitespaces from a literal? I tried to use
swrlb:replace(?mt:l, ?mt:z, " ", ""), but it is expected to close the
string. Replacing the whitespace with nothing, meaning just leave away the
fourth argument doesn't work neither, because all four arguments requiered.
Does anyone has an idea?
